Federal Budget Overview

Read the National Skills Coalition‘s analysis of the impact of the federal 2011 budget agreement on workforce-related funding. A detailed table of workforce funding cuts in the federal budget can also be found here.

Thanks to all of you who added your name to the sign-on letter to the Ohio congressional delegation in support of federal workforce investment funding. We believe that these letters from across the country, along with other advocacy efforts, helped to keep cuts in workforce funding to a minimum.

State Budget Overview

****Budget Update****

The Ohio House is moving quickly to complete work on the 2012-2013 biennial budget and forward it to the Senate. They are expected to vote it out of the chamber during the first week of May, with the budget submitted by the Governor largely intact. On April 13, Gongwer (Volume #80, Report #71, Article #1) reported that House finance subcommittee leaders did not expect major changes in the way the budget funds K-12 or higher education.

CRP has completed an overview of Governor Kasich’s FY12-13 budget proposal.  You can view the overview at http://bit.ly/hLTYeh.

Additionally, CRP has read through the Legislative Services Commission’s Redbooks (the LSC’s analysis of the proposed annual budget) for Ohio Department of Development, Board of Regents and Department of Job and Family Services and have identified all of the workforce related sections in the following PDFs.
