At an 11:00 am news conference Governor Strickland identified three options for filling the FY10-11 budget hole resulting from the Supreme Court decision that Video Lottery Terminals must go to vote. These options included the penny increase in the state sales tax, K-12 Education making additional cuts, or a suspension of the last phase of state income tax cuts. The Governor has recommended that the legislature work with him to implement option three-the suspension of the final phase of the income tax cuts as passed in HB 66. It is important to note that the Governor stated that this temporary suspension or postponement of the tax cuts for this biennium.
