Pre-Apprenticeship listening session from DOL

On 6-11-10 DOL hosted a Pre-Apprenticeship webinar.  Below you can read more and link to the recording.

The Office of Apprenticeship (OA) is exploring options to create more consistency in the use of pre-apprenticeship models, including the possibility of “certifying” programs that would meet minimum criteria established with input from industry partners that participate in the Registered Apprenticeship system. During the webinar, DOL will invite feedback from the broad workforce community and lay out some options and issues regarding pre-apprenticeship. The session also will highlight a recent survey of pre-apprenticeship in the construction industry conducted by the Aspen Institute. Finally, the Building and Construction Trades Department of the AFL-CIO will present their new multi-craft curriculum which is emerging as a best practice.  Listen to it, download the presentation, or read a transcript of it at http://www.workforce3one.org/view/5001015446681917627/info.
