How can community colleges collaborate with non-profit agencies to improve educational outcomes for low-income adults and to develop workers with the skills to be competitive?
This webinar will share observations and lessons learned from Courses to Employment, a demonstration project evaluating six community college-based partnerships. After an overview of several participating partnerships, the session will look more closely at the experience of Training Futures, a partnership between Northern Virginia Family Services and Northern Virginia Community College, including the following aspects of their collaboration:
- Roles and responsibilities of each partner
- Approach to meeting students’ academic and non-academic needs
- Relationship to business and industry
- Costs and funding
- College and career advancement outcomes experienced by participants
