Petition Congress to Extend the TANF Emergency Fund to Help Small Business and Save Jobs. Click: http://www.philaup.org/TANF/index.php.
The only public jobs program that has been enacted in the current recession, the TANF Emergency Fund is scheduled to expire at the end of September.
240,000 workers will lose their jobs if the Congress does not extend the program for another year. We have nearly 3,000, mostly formerly long term unemployed, in Philadelphia who face layoffs and they are organizing to fight for their jobs. They are joining with the employers that they work for, paid for by the TEF, to raise the issue. They need your help. Please send this link through your networks for an online petition to save the program.

We also have a petition for small business and employers. Our best hope to save the program is to encourage the thousands of employers who are benefiting from the labor of these workers to call for the program to be saved. We are hoping to present several hundred employer sign ons at a press event in Washington on Sept. 15. We are hoping people can forward the link to the sign on letter for employers through your networks. There is not a lot of time, so we encourage everyone to help us get this out. Thanks.
