Thank you for asking employers you know who are utilizing the TANF Emergency Fund to Sign a Letter in support of the Fund.
On September 15th groups from PA, CA and IL will be in DC to deliver to Congress a letter from employers from all over the country who are using the TANF Emergency Fund. They will be calling for its extension by one year to September 30, 2011. TANF Emergency Fund public job participants will also be in DC on the 15th.
There are currently nearly 600 employer sign ons from around the country, but more are needed. If you can reach out to employers please encourage them to sign.

Let’s keep up the fight to save this vital program.
Background: The TANF Emergency Fund is an emergency jobs program through which 37 states have provided subsidized jobs for nearly 250,000 otherwise unemployed parents and youth – helping families, businesses, and communities across America weather the recession. The program will end September 30 unless the Senate joins the House in voting to extend it. The TANF Emergency Fund, which President Obama and Congress created in last year’s Recovery Act, has given states over $1 billion to operate subsidized jobs programs that have proved successful. For more information and figures on state-by-state jobs created see a Center on Budget and Policy Priority report at: http://www.cbpp.org/files/9-2-10tanf.pdf
Here is an excellent video clip about a successful use of the TANF Emergency Fund for job creation in Mississippi, from a public television show that aired on Friday, September 3: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/economy/one-step-forward-a-jobs-program-provides-hope-for-the-unemployed/3310/
