Description: On-the Job Training (OJT) provides a strategic opportunity to enhance the delivery of workforce services in your local area. This session will provide local workforce program representatives with information and training on policy requirements, forms and templates, and a comprehensive procedure manual that will result in a more consistent delivery of OJT program opportunities across the state.

Led by John G. Chamberlin (see biography below), this training will introduce a new technical assistance guide that addresses implementation of a common OJT approach for WIA formula funds, Trade Act training assistance, and National Emergency Grants (NEGs), consistent with federal laws, regulations and guidance, as well as Ohio’s plans and policies. The guide includes templates for the pre-award review, the OJT contract, the training outline, and reimbursement forms, as well as instructions for staff on how to use the process and forms. The guide will also provide tips on marketing OJT, considerations for assessing OJT need and length, and information on records that must be maintained for subsequent monitoring and audits.

The training will also include a segment to be conducted by the State regarding the requirements and procedures for a statewide OJT National Emergency Grant that Ohio will soon be implementing. This federal stimulus funding will be available to all workforce areas to serve a total of approximately 500 prolonged unemployed dislocated workers and will permit the reimbursement of up to 90% of the participant wages while in training. Specific limitations and requirements apply to these funds, which will be described further during this training event.
